Aberafan Maesteg Constituency

Mark Griffiths Aberafan Maesteg Constituency Reform UK

Candidate - Mark Griffiths

[email protected]

By way of introduction my name is Mark Griffiths I am 57 years old with my amazing fiancée of 10 years looking to get married in the near future. Between us we have 8 children, all of which live in the south Wales area.  I have lived and worked in the Bridgend and Neath port talbot area all my life, less 5 years which I spent in Snowdonia national park.

I was born in Blackmill, Bridgend and have 4 sisters and 1 twin brother and I grew up expecting to go into the coal mines but they all closed just before I left school decimating the valleys and the community. I ended up working in an engineering factory until the EU gave grants to factories to relocate into the EU putting three generations working there out of work in 2003, so I came to neath and what a great place it was, I then started working for neath community ambulance service as a driver. After I left the community ambulance service, I went on to work for a homeless charity for ten years. For the last 6 years I have worked in a local garage as a fitter.

One of my passions is motorcycle racing which I have been doing for the last 30 years, during which time i achieved many titles including Welsh hill climb champion, ultimate street bike champion, Welsh sprint champion, sidecar champion, fastest Welshman and also held three British land speed records at Pendine Sands. I enjoy the camaraderie of the race paddock with people we call our extended family as well as helping my twin brother to win multiple championships too.

My reason for running for reform UK is quite simply to give the constituents of Aberavon and Measteg the opportunity to vote for reform UK as there was not a candidate put forward for this constituency. I believe the political class has betrayed the electorate. I for one did not vote for mass migration neither did my friends, family or any of the many people I speak to whilst I am out and about.

The knock-on effect on our local services, housing and general quality of life has been devastating along with net zero. I feel for the first time our children will have a poorer quality of life than we had. I believe only the reform party can begin to fix this by giving the power back to the people who understand what's going on in the real world.
